About Me

About Me

My name is Thana Thaweeskulchai. I am photographer based in Bangkok, Thailand.

I took up photography back in my college years. All I wanted to do was to record events that were happening in my life and not simple let it pass me by. Since then I turned freelance and accepted jobs photographing people, a slice of their lives or their special moments.

My style is simple, direct, raw, honest and authentic.

My Motto: Remember!

What have I done so far?
After spending the first few years photographing anything and everything, from stock to street photography, what I personally find most rewarding with photography is telling stories with photographs. So far I have photographed, for myself and for various clients travel, pre-wedding/engagement and surprise marriage proposals. I have photographed a terminal patient in a hospice, beggars in the heart Bangkok shopping district. Also I have been covering political situation in Bangkok since 2009, attending rallies and protests on both political sides. For that, I was caught in the middle of a violent mob, hearing gunshot and explosion when the military was involved, getting myself tear-gassed by the riot police and was part of the largest peaceful demonstration in the world (unofficial, but I like to think so).

What I want to do?
Tell stories. Photo documentaries, photo-stories, photojournalism, whatever it may be. I don't shy away from difficult subjects, be it social, personal or political. If there is a moment worth photographing or a story worth telling, I want to share it with the world. To paraphrase Bono of U2 ~ "Photography can change the world, because it can change people."

I am available for hire as a freelance photographer. For more information contact me by email here.
